Jack M. Gaume

Jack Mack Gaume, age 79, of Madison, Alabama, passed away on September 24, 2026. He was born on November 24, 1946 in San Antonio, Texas to John W. and June B. Gaume.

Jack grew up in Las Cruces, New Mexico. He graduated from New Mexico State University with a BA in History, and went to work for the Social Security Administration for 14 years. He left that job to return to school and got his Masters Degree in History at Sul Ross State University and began his career as a teacher for the Carrollton-Farmers Branch school district in Carrollton, Texas. He loved his students and enjoyed the 14 years he worked at Turner High School.

Jack met his wife, Beverly Stock, while at New Mexico State University, and they were married November 21, 1973. Together they raised 4 children: Jared R. Gaume of Albuquerque, NM, C. Nichole Gray (Greg), of Madison, AL, Erik N. Gaume of San Antonio, TX, and Jessica L. Morgan (Robert), of Sherman, Texas. They in turn gifted him with 7 wonderful grandchildren who were the light of his life.

Jack was an avid hunter and loved the outdoors. His favorite escape (when not hunting) was camping with his family. He also was passionate about history and loved discussions about US history and many notable battles and military campaigns.

Jack is survived by his wife, Beverly, his 4 children, 7 grandchildren, 3 brothers, Charles L. Gaume (Barbara), Mike J. Gaume (Terry), and Patrick J. Gaume (Joleene). His parents and older brother, John E. Gaume, preceded him in death.
