Michele Chapman Parker

Michele Chapman Parker, age 50 was greeted by the arms of Jesus on 08/28/2026. Michele was born in Riverdale, Georgia on September 15, 1975, to John and Brenda Chapman.

Michele’s family moved to Huntsville when she was a baby. Michele lived in Huntsville until she graduated high school and moved to Auburn. Michele was honored to be selected Miss Homecoming Auburn University and graduated in 1997. While attending Auburn, Michele met the love of her life. After years of a wonderful friendship, David and Michele married in 2000 while attending UAB School of Optometry. They returned to North Alabama and opened Madison Eye Care Center in 2001.

On August 24, 2011 Michele was diagnosed with breast cancer. After multiple surgeries, chemotherapies and radiation, Michele enjoyed being in remission until 2016 when the cancer spread to her liver and bones. After being told she had six months to two years to live, Michele made the difficult decision to step away from her career as an optometrist to spend time with family and friends. Although her purpose of caring for patients on a daily basis was left behind, her bigger purpose was continuing to lead a Christ-centered life and be present and involved in her children’s activities, enjoy every minute of life, grow relationships, and travel God’s beautiful creation.

God blessed her with the miracle of 10 additional years on her earthly home, albeit with innumerable procedures, surgeries, radiation treatments, and clinical trials. She took this time to show the world around her what it meant to be a true child of Jesus. Even in the most difficult times of her medical journey, Michele had a smile on her face, joy in her heart, and found a way to inspire and uplift everyone she met. Every room seemed a little brighter with Michele’s presence. Michele was a wonderful wife, mother, daughter and friend. She connected on a deep and personal level with friends. She led or participated in numerous women’s bible studies. She also mentored young adults leading them in her “Friday Fun and Fellowship” worship class.

One of the most amazing qualities of Michele was her selflessness, always putting everyone else first, even if it took all the energy she had. After spending time with Michele, you were inspired to be a better person, a better friend, a better spouse, enjoy the small things in life, eat dessert first, love stronger, sit in awe of God’s creation and share in her love of the beauty of rainbows. Although medicine predicted a shorter time on this earthly home, God had a bigger plan. He gave her more time and she used every tool He gave her. She totally surrendered to Him, and she showed how to live as stated in Philippians 4:13: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”. She truly exemplified what it meant to live less of herself and more of Him.

Michele was preceded in death by her grandparents, Charles Still and wife, Dean, Jack Chapman, Sr., and wife, Jodie; father-in-law, James Lake “Jim” Parker, IV and her nephew, James Lake Parker, VI

Michele is survived by her loving husband of 26 years, David Parker as well as her children David and Matthew Parker; her parents, John and Brenda Chapman; mother-in-law, Scarlett Parker; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jay and Sheri Parker and nephews, James and William Parker.

Private Graveside Services will be held for immediate family at Franconia-Oak Grove Cemetery in Aliceville, AL with Pastor Gage Henry from the Auburn campus of All Christ Church officiating.
