Paul Thomas McKinney

Paul Thomas McKinney (Tom), age 81 passed away on June 24, 2026 in his home surrounded by many members of the family he loved. Born on October 25, 1944 in Marion North Carolina, Tom answered the call of his Country by serving in the United States Marine Corps completing two tours of duty in Vietnam. After being honorably discharged with the rank of Sargent, he married High School sweetheart Sandy in 1968. For over 57 years, through all of life’s joy and trials they lived together as soul mates and best friends.

Tom never met a stranger. He believed that family isn’t just about blood, rather it’s anyone you choose to love; Tom chose to love them All! He lived his life as a testament to virtue, duty, honor and love. Everyone that knew Tom was proud to call him friend. He will be dearly missed.

Tom is survived by his wife Sandy McKinney, Brother Tim McKinney, Grandsons Cameron McKinney and Rowan Verhaeghe, Daughters-in-law Barbi Verhaeghe and Katie Sullivan, Nieces Melissa Cunane, Karen Jackson, Leigh Ledet, Laine Tousey and Tara Reinholt.

Tom is preceded in death by his father RH (Mac) McKinney and Mother Lucille Martin McKinney, Sons Paul Jackson McKinney and Jason Martin McKinney, Brother Joseph (Blaine) McKinney, Nephew Tim C. McKinney.

A military grave side service will be held in his honor on July 11 at 11:00 am at Huntsville Memory Gardens.
